Dear Team,

With the arrival of the last day of school, our Scouting Year 2016/17 is also coming to a happy completion.  We had had a year of excitements and hard work.

25 Years of Canadian Scouting in Hong Kong

Some Quick facts about the 1st HKCSG:
  • Beaver Section: 19 youths, 8 leaders
  • Cub Section: 42 youths, 19 leaders
  • Friday Troop Section: 8 youths, 4 leaders
  • Saturday Troop Section: 22 youths, 8 leaders
  • Friday Venturer Section: 9 youths, 2 leaders
  • Saturday Venterer Section: 2 youths, 2 leaders
  • Service Team: 3 scouters
All of our leaders worked very hard together with only one goal - To help develop well rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world.  Actually, Scouting is the only program that the youth, especially the ones at Scouts and Venturers age, would 'allow' their parents to 'accompany' them to do all kinds of activities because they are Scouters!  Without Scouters, there is no Group.

For the annual appointment, in the coming Scouting year, the following Scouters are appointed Section Scouters:

Beaver Section - Scouter Canie Lo
Cub Section - Scouter Yvonne Cheang
Scout Section - Scouter Michelle Ko
Venturer Section - Scouter Fred Mo

In closing, I thank you all for your devotion and dedication to our Group and for making this Scouting year such a big success.  I thank the It’s the 25th! Organising Committee for making our quarter century celebration a memorable one. I must thank our Group Council Members for put our heads together to set direction for our Group.  We are a wonderful TEAM!

Have a great summer, Everyone!  Be seeing you all in August!!

Yours in Scouting,
Cassandra

A quick flashback of the scouting year 2016-17 by  Commissioner Cassandra Ip:

Picture
When Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Hong Kong in September 2016, three of our Venturers and I went and provided a short but solemn ceremony for his visit to the Sai Wan War Cemetery.
Picture
Wood Badge 1 Training Course was a busy training time. The course was attended by new Beaver Scouters, new and advancing Cub, Scout and Venturer Scouters, and Venturers! This year, e-learning was part of the training.
Picture
We started the year with the Open House Scout Booth, very well received by many keen parents and students.
Picture
Family Fun Fair 2016 was the time when our Bake Sale Booth expanded our operation! Coffee was added to our table, and we have two beautiful creatures joining our Scouting Family, namely Dino and Butter Scotch! Thanks to Scouter Erison for his generous toy donations and support. Our Cubs worked with the Beavers to run the the Bake Sale Table while our Scouts and Venturers worked together to build and man the Obstacle Course! Each and every member of our Group contributed to the tremendous success of the day!
Picture
The fun of the Obstacle Course is always attracting a line up!
Picture
The 75th Anniversary Canadian Commemorative Ceremony was a time when we worked together and paid our tribute to the fallen Canadian Soldiers.
Picture
Chinese New Year calls for celebration! The Beavers and the Cubs had had a fun time together!
Picture
During the Scout-Guide Week, we celebrated B.-P.'s birthday by putting up a display of the story of B.-P. and introduced Scouting to our school community - Our tattoos and cookies were very popular with students of all ages!
Picture
Came March, we celebrated our 25th Anniversary with a Group Camp - It’s the 25th!

Go Beyond!

All too soon, it’s the 25th Recognition Ceremony came in April. While we thanked our Sponsor, CDNIS, we devoted our thanks to our Scouters! Without all of us working hard together, there is no Canadian Scout Program in Hong Kong! Thanks Team!!

Jamboree On The Trail came in May when the weather was very unstable. We were so lucky to have a day of cloudy sky with a bit of sunshine! We all enjoyed the studying of the nature, and the beauties of the scenic Tai Tam Reservoir Road.

The mixed teams had a lot of fun building and racing on the sedan chair they made together!
